Hey there! I’m Vanesa Hoxha, an Emmy Crystal Pillar Award–winning multimedia journalist currently based in Chicago. I tell stories across broadcast and digital platforms, shooting, writing, editing, producing, and presenting my own work. I have a passion for local news and am a strong advocate for its future. I also have a strong background in social media content and storytelling.
Completing my bachelor’s degree in multimedia journalism with a minor in Islamic World Studies from Loyola University Chicago, I was named the School of Communication President’s Medallion recipient.
I’ve gained hands-on experience inside multiple professional newsrooms across the city, including at ABC7 Chicago, where I support programming, promotion, and publicity. Working for our lifestyle show, Windy City Weekend, I pitch story ideas, book guests, and produce digital/social media content that has reached over 500K viewers. My background also includes experience with News Nation, ESPN Chicago, and live on-camera roles as an in-game host and reporter for Loyola University Chicago Athletics and the Windy City Bulls.
Born and raised in Chicago, I’ve covered everything from local sports to hard news, and I’m always looking for meaningful stories to tell. Recently engaged to the love of my life :) I now split my time between Chicago and Dallas, constantly exploring new communities, meeting new people, and finding stories wherever I go!
On camera, I bring energy, confidence, and authenticity. Behind the scenes, I bring creativity, efficiency, and strong editorial judgment. I love telling stories that matter and giving people a platform to be seen and heard.
